Privacy policy

How information is handled when you visit paulfrederiksen.com.

Who operates this site and what this policy covers

Paul Frederiksen operates paulfrederiksen.com. This policy covers the photography portfolio, product and support pages, and other pages on this domain. It describes the website’s current data practices. The ReciproMeter iPhone app has a separate app privacy policy; visiting its website pages is covered here. For privacy questions or requests, email paul@paulfrederiksen.com.

Information collected and why

You can browse without creating an account. If you email Paul, your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send are used to respond, provide support, and handle your request. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

Normal website requests disclose connection information to hosting and service providers, such as your IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, and request time. This supports delivery, security, troubleshooting, analytics, and advertising as described below.

Visitor statistics: GoatCounter

The photography site uses GoatCounter to understand traffic and improve content and navigation. Statistics can include pages visited, referring websites, browser and operating system, screen size, and approximate country. GoatCounter does not use tracking cookies. Its documentation describes temporary processing of IP address and browser information to distinguish visits, rather than storing raw IP addresses in visitor statistics. See GoatCounter’s data collection documentation and privacy policy.

Google AdSense and advertising partners

This site previously used Google AdSense Auto ads. The following information describes those advertising services. Google and other third-party advertising vendors may use cookies, local storage, web beacons, IP addresses, device or browser information, and similar identifiers to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalize advertising. Google’s advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this website and other websites. Other advertising networks and vendors may also use cookies or similar technologies when their ads appear.

Advertising processing depends on consent choices, location, browser settings, and the provider’s settings. See how Google uses information from partner sites, Google’s privacy policy, and Google’s advertising technologies.

Cookies, local storage, and your choices

The site stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage. Advertising services may set cookies and store consent preferences. You can delete or block cookies and site storage using your browser settings; doing so may reset preferences or affect features.

Manage Google personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center. You can also use the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out tool for participating vendors. These choices may apply only to a particular browser or device and do not remove all ads.

Where a consent or privacy message is displayed, use its controls to review your choices or withdraw consent. If you cannot find the controls or want to request an opt-out of advertising-related sharing, email Paul at the address above. This policy does not itself activate a consent platform. The site does not currently implement its own automatic response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals; do not assume such a signal changes third-party ad settings.

Hosting, fonts, and external services

The website is hosted using GitHub Pages. Hosting infrastructure may process request logs, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site. See GitHub’s privacy statement.

Pages request fonts from Google Fonts, which receives ordinary network-request information such as your IP address and browser headers. See Google’s privacy policy. Email communications are also processed by the email providers involved in delivery.

Links to social networks, app stores, and other external services take you to services with their own privacy practices. Their policies apply when you interact with them.

Disclosure and advertising-related sharing

Information is processed by providers needed to host the site, deliver fonts and email, provide visitor statistics, and serve advertising. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or website security. Paul does not sell email inquiries. Advertising partners’ use of identifiers for personalized ads may constitute a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws. The advertising choices above and privacy-request contact are available for questions or requests about that processing.

Retention, security, and international processing

Messages are retained as needed to respond, maintain relevant support records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Analytics, hosting logs, advertising identifiers, and provider records follow the relevant provider’s retention practices; the site does not promise a single retention period for all providers. Browser preferences remain until you clear them or they are replaced.

The site uses HTTPS and reasonable access safeguards. No online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries, whose laws may differ from those where you live.

Privacy rights and requests

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Where applicable, you may appeal a denied request and complain to your local privacy regulator. You will not be treated differently for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Send requests to paul@paulfrederiksen.com, describing your request and how you interacted with the site. Identity verification may be needed, and some information may not be identifiable in aggregate statistics. Requests concerning information controlled independently by Google, GitHub, or another provider may need to be made directly to that provider. Where data-protection law applies, processing is based on consent where required, legitimate interests in operating and improving the site and responding to inquiries, or applicable legal obligations.

Children’s privacy

The website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Paul does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information through the site or an inquiry, contact Paul so the matter can be reviewed and appropriate information removed.

Changes and contact

This policy may change as site features, providers, or practices change. The updated version will appear at this URL with a revised date. For questions about this policy or your information, contact paul@paulfrederiksen.com.
